Please note that at we are updating our website, the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Prks is trying to get our Archery Elk and Archery Antelope licenses on a draw instead of being guaranteed.  There are going to be 44 meetings around the state with the final decision being made in February.  We think it has already been decided since on their website the new proposal is already being printed in the new 2008 and 2009 regulations.

It all comes down to access to private land.  The  Fish, Wildlife and Parks people think if they can shut down the outfitters being able to utilize the antelope or elk, the landowner will then let resident hunters on their land for free.  Landowners will not let resident hunters on for free.  They will eliminate the antelope and elk before that happens.

This proposal will not hurt our Archery Antelope too bad.  The chance of drawing should be 70-75%.  The Archery Elk hunt drawing success will probably be much lower however.
